Title

UMD Lakeland Report 2009

Subject

Study of Lakeland east of the railroad tracks

Description

This report is the result of research done by a group of Historic Preservation and American Studies students in the "Social and Ethnic Issues in Historic Preservation" class, which was taught by Dr. Mary Sies at the University of Maryland in the Fall 2009 semester. The research was focused on the east side of Lakeland, which was the site of the first African American settlement in Lakeland and which has been destroyed during the process of Urban Renewal in College Park. Today, Lake Artemesia park occupies the area.
