Description
The oldest church inLakeland was organized in 1891. Congregants purchased a building near the Paint Branch Creek, between the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad tracks and the streetcar line. The building was renovated, a cornerstone was laid, and it became First Baptist Church of Lakeland. While the church was under construction, services were held in the homes of Larkin Johnson, Oliver Johnson, Monroe Richmond, and the Robinson family.
